ABOUT WOODLAND AND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas : Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

POSITION SUMMARY :

Schedule : Monday to Friday 7 : 45 am to 4 : 45pm, OFF Saturday and Sunday.

Teaching at Woodland Job Corps Center is a unique yet rewarding experience. The core values of our company are open communication, collaboration and innovation! Although required to adhere to DOL regulations and requirements, instructors are encouraged and are provided a forum to engage in stimulating and creative teaching!

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing instruction and training to students in the Career Education Center. Develops individual achievement plans and academic goals to ensure student academic achievement in the program. Works with the Career Technical Training Instructors to infuse applied academics into CTT curricula to enhance student learning and success. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.

Main Duties of job :

Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment where youth feel valued, respected and motivated to learn.

Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique needs, learning styles and abilities of youth, promoting academic growth and personal development.

Responsible to provide students with academic training leading to GED / HSD completion and improved literacy and numeracy skills.

Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and individualized support to promote academic success.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including counselors, and residential advisors to develop holistic plans for student success and address individual challenges effectively.

Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director / Center Duty Officer / Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.

Act as a mentor and positive role model, demonstrating empathy, patience and understanding while promoting positive relationships among students and encourage a sense of accountability and responsibility.

Ensures classroom is well organized and conducive to student learning. Holds students accountable for following Center's dress code / behavioral standards of conduct.

Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students

Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and maintain a high level of professional competence.

Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL / Company performance goals.

Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL / Company when requested

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree from an accredited school required. Masters degree preferred. Must possess MSDE Secondary Education Educators Certification. Previous teaching or Job Corps experience preferred.
