FFT Therapist-Youth Impacted by Gang Violence

The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area was recently awarded by the Department of Justice a grant to provide Functional Family Therapy to those "at risk" individuals between the ages of 11 to 18 with the overall goal to drive the reduction of "Gang Violence" within the Syracuse Community. It is an honor to be selected and we are seeking an individual to be a "trustworthy go-between", with ties to the community in which they will work, who has the drive, knowledge and compassion to connect with this "at risk" group of Youth in our community.

As an FFT-CW (Functional Family Therapy-Child Welfare) Case Planner II you will receive evidence-based training from FFTLLC consultants as well as ongoing consultation regarding working with at risk families and youth through the FFT-CW lens and utilizing the interventions of this model. You will be taught how to motivate families for change, assess family patterns, implement specific and individualized behavior change plans to address referral problems and relevant risk factors, and generalize changes in multiple systems. Working with a caseload of 10-12 families, the goal is to increase protective factors, while also reducing the risks associated with family safety, and prevent the need for out of home placement of children.
