Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the EMS Lead Medic the EMS Specialist serves the community by responding to emergency and non-emergency situations, natural and man made, that pose a threat to the lives of the citizens within the CFD response district and it's mutual aid partners. The EMS Specialist protects life by performing emergency medical care, public education duties, maintaining EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
The EMS Specialist will perform according to the State of New Mexico and City of Clovis Fire Department Scope of Practice as approved by Medical Direction. This position works under a 7 day FLSA cycle, and is generally scheduled (2) 20 hour shifts per cycle.
This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances; marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
