Job descriptionAssignment start : ASAP or upon credentialing completion Estimated duration : 6 months 1 year Patient Demographics : Adult and Obstetric patients Patient Volume / Census : Variable based on census; active Labor & Delivery unit Admissions : Yes Rounding : Included during shift coverage Phone Consults : As required Case Mix : Full-scope obstetrics, including labor management, deliveries, and cesarean sections No. of Beds in Department : Not specified (L&D Unit) Trauma Level : Level 1 Specialty Backup Available : Midwives, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Neonatology Support Staff Available : RNs, Residents, Midwives Reason for Coverage : Ongoing staffing support and supplemental coverage Hospital Privileges Required : Yes Temporary Privileges Available : Yes Credentialing Timeline : Approximately days Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered Vaginal deliveries Cesarean sections Emergency obstetric management Postpartum care and rounding Licenses : Massachusetts Medical License (preferred, not required) Board : BC / BE in Obstetrics and Gynecology DEA : Active DEA Certification Certifications : BLS, ACLS (preferred) Experience : Recent inpatient obstetrics experience required Other Qualifications : Commitment to health equity and quality improvement; fluency in Spanish or other languages preferred Manage labor and delivery patients, including monitoring and delivery assistance Respond to obstetric emergencies promptly Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries as required Provide postpartum inpatient care Collaborate with midwives and family medicine teams for consults and coordinated care Maintain thorough and accurate medical documentation Mentor and educate residents, fellows, and medical students Promote shared decision-making and patient education Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education Academic appointment available at Boston University School of Medicine (rank commensurate with experience) Applicants encouraged from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC candidates
