Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited Life Plan Community, seeks a Dining Room Supervisor to join our Dining Services Team. This position provides direct oversight of Dining Room Servers in casual, formal, and therapeutic dining venues during regular service, special events, and private functions to ensure a pleasant dining experience for residents and guests. The Dining Room Supervisor reports to the Dining Room Manager and the Dining Services Operations Manager.
JOB DUTIES
- Assumes responsibility for the appearance of dining venues; assigns side work to Dining Room Servers and remains in the dining area throughout meal service
- Participates or leads, as requested, trainings on meal etiquette, serving techniques, therapeutic diets, and sanitary standards regulating food handling and serving; documents attendance records of trainings
- Performs service review orientation (line-up) before meals; inspects serving lines for adherence to dress and sanitation standards; coordinates with food production supervisor to ensure palatability and appropriate presentation of food
- Reports concerns related to changes in residents dining habits, deteriorating self-care, and / or conversations indicating unhappiness or loneliness
- Meets with residents and guests to arrange for private events, ensuring adequate staff is assigned for the event and that the dining venue and meal selections meet expectations; follows up with the event host regarding concerns
- Resolves resident complaints related to quality of service, food, or the dining venue; reports concerns to manager and participates in action plans to improve areas of concern
- Ensures routing cleanings occur according to master cleaning schedule
- Ensures adequate supply of menus, guest checks, and other supplies; oversees reservations for dining venues; ensures charge tickets are initiated for guest meals and wine charges
- Utilizes Point of Sale (POS) technology and trains staff in POS processes; ensures accuracy of POS charges
- Enforces procedures to ensure the security of dining venues, equipment, supplies, and wine and alcoholic beverages
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent; Must be at least 21 years of ageTwo or more (2+) years of experience in dining services requiredKnowledge of serving alcoholic beverages requiredKnowledge of therapeutic diets preferredAttainment of Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment requiredTraining for Intervention Procedures (TIPs) Certification required within first year of employmentDemonstrated experience with overseeing staff, including training and customer service and quality controlKnowledge of sound supervisory practices to include team buildingKnowledge of geriatric dining needs, especially those with declining physical and cognitive abilitiesAbility to stand and walk for long periods of time and regularly and safely lift and carry a minimum of 30 poundsAbility to respond appropriately to crisesBENEFITS
