Senior Electrical Engineer

This project is expected to initially be a full time engagement but the overall duration is TBD. A part time initial engagement may also be acceptable. Beyond this project future design projects of next-gen high power compact motor drives are likely for the right resource.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 10 years of related experience
• Strong knowledge of FCC / EMC certification requirements and testing methods
• Extensive knowledge of circuit design and PCB layout techniques for mitigation of EMC emissions
• Strong knowledge of digital and analog design
• Experience with emissions measurement tools
• Experience with switching power amplifier designs a plus
• Experience with motor control a plus

Additional Project Technical Details

We have a PCB-mounted drive product that has been released for production and which passed FCC EMC certification however not with much margin. Some customers of this drive product, particularly when using multiple such units on a single PCB, are reporting excessive EMI levels.

The goal of this project is to determine how we can reduce the EMI levels of this product, ideally without a redesign of its constituent boards. However if necessary we will undertake a redesign of one or more of the boards.
