Job Description :
Visually Impaired Advancement (VIA) formerly known as Olmsted Center for Sight (OCS) is seeking per diem Job Coaches to work part time hours.
Under the direction of the Vision Rehab Services Manager, the Job Coaches will provide guidance, support, and feedback to individuals who are blind / visually impaired at their training / work sites and objectively document performance including setting goals, celebrating successes and identifying areas for growth in order for the participant to be successful in the workplace.
Essential Functions :
- Coach, teach, monitor and provide support to individual at their work site.
- Provide individualized training to assist in the mastering of their assigned job duties.
- Identify and communicate potential barriers to the success of the individual.
- Provide guidance to in learning to integrate with other employees and environment.
- Assist in developing and enhancing communication with other employees and their supervisors.
- Assist in developing necessary skills to be successful in the workplace.
- Provide detailed and objective documentation of performance, establish short-term goals for improvement, monitor progress and provide regular feedback in accordance with established department / agency guidelines.
- Celebrate successes and identify areas for growth in order to be successful in the workplace.
- Communicate regularly with VIA staff.

Qualifications :
- NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively within assigned geographic area required.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Previous successful work experience required.
- Experience working with people who are blind / visually impaired preferred but not required.
