Job description

Summary : This role involves delivering patient care and transportation services at the EMT-P certification level, adhering to state certification and local medical protocols. The position supports a busy metropolitan advanced life support ambulance service, providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance transport.

Responsibilities : Accurately document patient care records, including billing information and signatures. Perform rescue duties independently or with a crew under supervision. Meet specific performance standards in a demanding workload environment.

Education & Certifications : Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required and may be obtained during orientation. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be completed within six months of hire. Completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 700 courses is mandatory. All certifications must be maintained continuously.

Experience : At least one year of field EMS, rescue, or related experience is preferred. Experience with advanced life support services is desirable.

Requirements : Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of three years licensed driving experience. Comprehensive knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous material incidents, and communications equipment. Familiarity with regional geography, including major streets, landmarks, and care facilities, to be acquired within six months. Ability to work calmly under stress, maintain professionalism with patients and families, and collaborate effectively with healthcare personnel.

Physical demands include the ability to lift and move at least 100 pounds regularly, with capacity to lift up to 150 pounds when necessary. Must be able to operate emergency vehicles safely and navigate various physical environments, including confined spaces.

Additional Skills : Understanding of age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual patient needs. Hearing, speaking, and visual acuity are essential for effective communication and operation of emergency vehicles.
