Job Description for Acute MedSurgical Nurse

The qualified nurse exercises autonomy and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. They deliver routine and complex care, with the ability to plan long-term objectives.

Meets expectations of applicable competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.

Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.

Administers medications and treatments; monitors side-effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment.

Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.

Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.

1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty, preferred.

BLS required.

RN License in state of employment or compact.
