Summary:
A commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee grocery store remodels, retail buildouts, and ground-up commercial projects. The role is best for someone who has handled fast-paced, occupied retail environments and understands scheduling, phasing, shutdowns, and subcontractor coordination. This position offers steady year-round commercial work and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Run day-to-day jobsite operations for grocery stores, retail remodels, rollouts, and tenant improvement projects
Manage subcontractors, site logistics, safety, and daily progress
Build and maintain project schedules; plan shutdowns, night work, and occupied-store phases
Coordinate with Project Manager on RFIs, submittals, change orders, and documentation
Lead daily and weekly site meetings with trades, clients, and field teams
Ensure quality control, cleanliness, and safe jobsite practices
Review drawings, plans, and scopes before each phase of construction
Monitor manpower, deliveries, inspections, and punch list completion
Provide daily reports, site photos, and communication updates to office teams
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
Experience in grocery store remodels, retail buildouts, rollouts, or high-paced tenant improvement
Ability to manage night work, shutdowns, and store-in-operation projects
Strong understanding of scheduling, sequencing, safety, and subcontractor coordination
Ability to read drawings, specifications, and scopes
Solid communication and leadership skills
