Job Description

Haas CNC Milling Specialist

Join our Greenwood, IN team on either 1st or 3rd shift and keep precision work humming. You’ll run Haas vertical mills (3- and 4-axis) to cut, drill, mill, ream, bore, and broach both metal and non-metal components with exacting accuracy.

A day in the role

You clock in to a temperature-controlled shop, review the day’s work orders, and dive into setups. You verify fixtures, choose tooling, and dial in feeds, speeds, and coolant. With a quick prove-out (manual programming allowed during setup only when approved by your Supervisor), you launch the run—monitoring displays, listening for changes, and pausing as needed to measure parts and swap tools. If automatic routines act up, you take control and machine manually, then collaborate with programming or your supervisor to resolve control media issues. Before the day ends, you document in the Traverse Manufacturing System, perform routine maintenance, clean down, and help a new teammate learn a better way to fixture that tricky part.

Core responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data to determine tooling, setup steps, control parameters, and machining sequence
  • Prepare and stage tooling; validate fixturing for dimensional targets, depths, angles, and other specs
  • Mount, align, and secure workholding, attachments, and workpieces; assemble cutting tools in holders and load into the magazine
  • Load or retrieve control media (e.g., tape, card, or disk) or pull CNC programs from the database
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position the spindle precisely and regulate depth of cut, speed, feed, and coolant
  • Conduct prove-outs and limited manual programming during setups only when approved by Supervisor
  • Start, observe, and adjust operations to catch and correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Stop machines to change tools and reconfigure setups based on sequence or inspection findings
  • Manually intervene to complete features when automation is faulty or a machine issue occurs
  • Partner with supervisors / programmers to resolve control media / programming discrepancies
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of machines, tooling, and parts
  • Follow company policies and safety protocols; wear PPE at all required times
  • Support onboarding by helping train new employees as needed
