What to Expect
The applicant will utilize engineering principals and previous experience with industrial power systems to develop engineered solutions to problems, design, construction support, troubleshooting, and commissioning for large, complex power systems. The role covers the interface to the utility company down to the individual utilization load with a focus in power distribution.
What You'll Do
- Write detailed engineering basis of design or scopes of work for outside EPC firms. This may include calculations to determine minimum requirements
- Develop initial engineered equipment specifications for budgetary quotes and then the final detailed specification for procurement. The type of equipment may be unit substation class transformers, switchgear, motor control center, prefabricated electrical buildings, resistance grounding systems, bus duct, switchboards
- Detailed vendor shop drawing review and consolidated comments against the engineered equipment specification including bill of material, nameplates, wiring diagrams, equipment ratings, dimensional layouts
- Attend factory acceptance test for engineered equipment and verify fabrication and function test are per the approved by Tesla release to manufacture drawings.
- Build and maintain model for power system per the latest onelines with SKM and / or eTAP. Use the model to generate arc flash incident energy, short circuit current, load flow, motor starting, etc to support project design
- Generate and / or review protective relay as well as circuit breaker settings to ensure protective device coordination
- Specify protective relay schemes and hardware as part of the initial overall oneline and procure bulk electrical material based on project basis of design and material take off from the construction installation package such as cable, terminations, cable tray, hardware
- Detailed engineering design packages including but not limited to : onelines, schematics, point to point wiring, cable schedules, equipment layout drawings, equipment elevations, panelboard schedules, nameplate schedules, installation details
