Location : Rogers / Bentonville, Arkansas (Hybrid flexibility)

Schedule : 40 hours / week | In-person required (In-office on Tuesdays & Thursdays)

Verdant Studio is a design-forward, multidisciplinary architecture and placemaking practice based in Northwest Arkansas. We blend architecture, interiors, urban design, and real estate-driven development into projects that create lasting impact for people and communities. As we step into our next chapter of growth, we are seeking a Director of Architecture to lead project delivery, mentor our team, and establish the systems that will scale Verdant into the future.

The Role

The Director of Architecture is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all architectural work across the studio. This role is central to Verdant’s next stage of growth : ensuring design excellence, consistency, and profitability while freeing the CEO to focus on vision and strategic expansion. You will be both a hands-on leader in complex projects and the architect of our systems, guiding how Verdant delivers great work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Practice : Serve as the senior authority on project delivery, technical execution, and design quality across all project types (luxury residential, mixed-use, adaptive reuse, placemaking, and institutional).
  • Process & Systems : Establish and refine studio-wide standards for design reviews, schedules, consultant coordination, quality assurance, and project profitability.
  • Mentorship & Growth : Lead and mentor project managers and designers, building confidence and accountability within the team.
  • Project Oversight : Direct high-stakes projects, guiding clients through complex decisions while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Financial Stewardship : Monitor project budgets and firm profitability, identify risks, and implement strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Strategic Partnership : Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on Verdant’s business model, growth initiatives, and long-term positioning.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience leading complex architectural projects and teams.
  • Proven expertise in project delivery and operations, not only design.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, contracts, schedules, and profitability.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and elevate others while holding accountability.
  • Clear communicator with strong presence in client and partner settings.
  • Passion for Verdant’s ethos : design excellence, community impact, and entrepreneurial spirit.
