Job Responsibilities

Entry-Level IT Support Specialist will provide front-line technical and customer service support for staff. This role requires a strong focus on professionalism, communication, and relationship management in a formal financial environment. Candidates must possess technical knowledge while delivering exceptional customer service, build trust with end users, and ensure efficient resolution of issues that impact daily operations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking IT assistance via phone, email, or in person.
  • Provide excellent customer service by actively listening and always maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine technical issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and basic software applications.
  • Escalate complex technical problems to higher-level IT staff or third-party IT vendor as needed while ensuring users are kept informed and continuing to track resolution.
  • Assist with account setup, password resets, and access requests in alignment with agency policies and security standards.
  • Document support requests, resolutions, and user feedback in the agency's ticketing system.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with agency staff, fostering trust and reliability.
  • Educate users on basic IT best practices, system usage, and agency technology guidelines.
  • Support special IT initiatives or projects under supervision, including equipment rollouts or software updates.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, security, and compliance, especially when handling sensitive financial and accounting data.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

  • A Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related technical field; or a minimum of four (4) years of full-time experience in information technology administration or information security administration.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts in simplified terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical support solutions from beginning to end, including facilitating the delivery of third-part vendor solutions to customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and manage user expectations in a formal, fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Windows operating systems, and general IT support practices.
  • Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail in a government and financial services context.

  • Candidates must specifically meet the Agency Minimum Requirements or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.
  • Additional Requirements :

    Knowledge of information technology concepts and principles; experience in information technology project management; experience in designing and implementing information technology solutions; knowledge of information security program development and maintenance, including information security concepts, principles, policies, and procedures; knowledge of applicable regulatory policies, standards, procedures, and controls (e.g., SCDIS-200, NIST, COBIT, FedRAMP); excellent documentation skills; and ability to explain information security concepts to audiences outside the field.

    Must be comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Adaptability and flexibility regarding change and changing requirements are critical skills. Must be able to perform at high level in a team-oriented approach.

    Must be able to safely lift and carry equipment, supplies, boxes, etc. weighing up to 45 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods. Must be able to reach, bend, and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work, and operate office equipment.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer-facing role (IT, banking, finance, or other professional service industry).
  • Familiarity with help desk software and ticketing systems.
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundations, or Microsoft Certified Fundamentals.
