The Global Institutional Business unit within BBVA's Corporate & Investment Banking division is responsible for developing and managing relationships with institutional clients by offering a wide range of CIB products, including :
- Global Markets
- Global Transactional Banking
- Investment Banking and Finance
The unit is structured into five primary client segments :
BanksWealth and Asset ManagersInsurancePublic SectorFinancial SponsorsIn the United States, the Financial Sponsors practice primarily focuses on Global Infrastructure and Real Estate managers operating across BBVA's international footprint (U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia).
As a Senior Associate in the Financial Sponsors team, you will be part of a client-facing Origination Team within BBVA's CIB unit. This is a high-impact role focused on supporting Relationship Managers (RMs) in originating, marketing, and executing a full suite of banking products and services to Financial Sponsors, including :
Global infrastructure and energy fundsSovereign wealth fundsPension fundsPortfolio companiesYou will work in close coordination with teams based in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, as well as product and support teams (Risk, Legal, Operations, Finance, etc.) to successfully deliver business solutions and strengthen client relationships.

Key Responsibilities :
Support the execution of the Strategic plan, business objectives, and budget for the Financial Sponsors unitAssist in Identifying and originating new business opportunities across geographiesDevelop segment-specific expertise to drive client engagement and cross-sell initiativesHelp manage a dedicated portfolio of U.S.-based clientsFoster close senior-level client relationships in coordination with the relationship managerCollaborate with product teams to tailor solutions aligned with clients' investment strategiesLeverage BBVA's global platform to understand and support clients' cross-border activitiesWork closely with M&A and Financing teams in Europe and Latin America to identify cross-border opportunitiesOversee all phases of transaction execution and ensure alignment with internal risk, legal, and operational processesPrepare and present materials for credit committees, client meetings, and internal reviewsParticipate at industry conferences and networking events related to Financial Sponsors and InfrastructurePlay an active role in pipeline and strategy meetingsEnsure strict compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirementsRequired Skills and Experience :
5 years of work experience (with a minimum of 3 years of experience at a top-tier Corporate and / or Investment Banking or Consulting firm, ideally with exposure to Financial Sponsors)Bachelor's degree required (Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred); MBA is a plusBilingual in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus)Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, CapIQ, and BloombergFINRA licenses (SIE, Series 7, 79, 63) required or to be completed upon employmentKey Competencies and Attributes :

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
