Job Summary
Provide quality tutoring, primarily in math courses (980-990, 1010-1030,1040-1050) to TRIO SSS participants while mentoring their development of effective student skills (i.e. note-taking, test preparation, time management, etc.) This may include assisting with class-related technology such as online homework and eportfolios.This is a pooled position, and the department reviews applications as positions become available. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Complete Salt Lake Community College’s Tutor Education Program, Level One, within one year of hire.
- Provide quality tutoring in math courses
- Submit required paperwork such as logs and time sheets in a timely manner
- Record tutoring appointments into our data platform Student Access
- Review class material with students by discussing content in the course’s textbook, working solutions to class problems, and / or reviewing worksheets and other assignments.
- Organize and maintain a tutoring environment to promote a productive learning experience for students
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, and build confidence in students
- Promote other department services and events to students during tutoring sessions
- Maintain regular communication with your supervisor via one-on-one meetings, email, and Microsoft Teams
- Keep center clean and organized as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Will need to have earned a B or better in the courses they wish to provide tutoringHave a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.Be a current student from Salt Lake Community College or University of UtahPreferred Qualifications
