PRIMARY PURPOSE / GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Working with the Associate Professor of Economics, the Research Assistant will perform a variety of duties to design and develop research instruments, such as questionnaires evaluating the impact of AI on social isolation and loneliness, contribute to ongoing research planning, conduct usability testing at different project stages, and provide detailed feedback to guide improvements. This role also involves expanding research to new populations, adapting study parameters as needed, and supporting the development and refinement of innovative applications.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Contribute to the design and development of research instruments, including questionnaires aimed at evaluating the impact of AI applications on social isolation and loneliness.
• Participate in collaborative, interdisciplinary team meetings to support application development and refinement.
• Conduct usability testing across multiple development stages and providing comprehensive, write feedback to inform interactive design improvements.
• Contribute to research planning and design, including expending study parameters to new populations (e.g., transitioning focus from elderly individuals to broader adults demographics).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS :

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Some undergraduate coursework including all required Economics classes, including Econometrics, and must have completed at least two upper division classes in Economics, or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability required.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS :

This is a temporary status, part-time (no more than 6 hours a week), non-benefits eligible, non-exempt position.

The regular hours for this position will vary based upon the needs of the department. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

This assignment is expected to end on or before June 30, 2026. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Hourly Rate : $16.50. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :

None.
