Job Description
The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for enforcing workplace safety policies, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position serves as the on-site representative for safety oversight, coordinating with management, field personnel, and regulatory agencies to ensure that all employees, contractors, and visitors maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
This role focuses on accident prevention through proactive education, inspection, and continuous improvement. The Site Safety Coordinator will also be responsible for training, maintaining documentation, managing PPE and safety equipment, and responding to incidents as needed to ensure a safe and productive operation.

Responsibilities
- Perform new hire site-specific safety orientation and ensure all personnel are trained in site safety requirements.
- Enforce all applicable safety policies, procedures, and COVID-19 guidelines.
- Intervene and stop unsafe acts or conditions immediately; report concerns to management and the Safety Administrator.
- Maintain first aid equipment, ensure forklift operators are certified, and verify all machinery is in safe working order.
- Monitor and control potential fire hazards and act as fire watch when required.
- Maintain updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous materials on-site and ensure employee access.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and stock of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify and mitigate spray finishing, welding, cutting, and brazing hazards, ensuring compliance with company and OSHA standards.
- Conduct weekly safety inspections to identify, correct, and prevent unsafe conditions.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses; prepare and submit detailed reports.
- Verify that lockout / tagout procedures and equipment are available and properly followed.
- Coordinate and schedule respirator fit testing and training for employees.
- Maintain all required safety documentation, postings, and inspection logs.
- Provide assistance to visitors to ensure adherence to company safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with fall protection requirements, crane and hoist operations, and other field safety standards.
- Manage emergency response procedures, ensuring employee readiness and minimal risk in the event of incidents.
- Communicate regularly with management to review safety performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clean, organized, and clutter-free work areas to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
- Administer disciplinary action when safety policies are violated, maintaining written documentation.
Job Specifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in safety or engineering preferred.Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.Prior experience in industrial safety, quality, or field coordination in a manufacturing, automotive, or transportation setting preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting tools.Demonstrated ability to train and instruct personnel in areas such as Forklift Operation, Crane Operation, Fall Protection, and Respiratory Regulations.Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail.Must be safety-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.Work Environment
This role operates within active manufacturing and rail environments, involving both indoor and outdoor work.
Exposure to weather elements such as heat, cold, rain, or snow is expected.Must wear steel-toe work boots and other PPE at all times.Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and lifting up to 40 lbs required.Will work in close proximity to rail cars, machinery, and heavy equipment under live site conditions.Company Overview
