Parent Partner

Provides peer support to parents and assists them to successfully engage with the program, services, and staff. Supports families who have children at high risk of being placed out of home. Assists family by helping the parents / caregivers identify their needs, helps role model new strategies, and promotes the family’s success. Use personal and professional life experiences to establish credibility and infuse hope for a better future, to demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and to assist with problem solving.

Qualifications : The candidate for this role is currently or has been involved in one of the referring departments (DCFS, Probation or DMH). Experience and perspective or a parent / caregiver or relative of a basis child with complex needs involving mental health, child protective, or probation services. Experience as a primary caregiver of a child with complex needs. Diplomacy in resolving conflicts and integrating divergent perspectives and able to handle escalated situations. Able to work constructively as a member of a team represent core / agency / program values and principles in a variety of settings. Must be able to communicate thought and ideas clearly both orally and written in English and Spanish. Able to work evening and weekend hours as required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid CA driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.

Salary : $22.00 - $25.00 / hour
