Job Title : Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Residential Counselor
Location : Montana Adult Group Homes, Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP)
Reports To : Program Director
Position Summary :
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Residential Counselor provides direct care and support to adults with developmental disabilities living in group home settings. This role is essential for helping individuals achieve greater independence, participate in community life, and maintain a safe, supportive living environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide daily support, supervision, and personal care to residents in accordance with their individualized service plans.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Support residents in developing independent living skills, social skills, and community integration.
- Implement behavioral support plans and respond to challenging behaviors using approved techniques.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, incidents, and resident progress.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, and supervisors.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all residents at all times.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in human services or related field preferred.Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred but not required.Ability to pass background checks and meet all state and organizational requirements.Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities.
