Job Description Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate as part of the corporate tax team with responsibility for assisting in the preparation of the annual income tax provision, income tax compliance, intercompany tax settlements, Federal and State tax audits, tax research, and special projects, as needed. The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Vice President of Tax and will interface with company and subsidiary finance associates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare components of the corporate annual income tax provision calculations under ASC 740 and work with external auditors through their review, provide necessary accounting entries, and prepare financial statement disclosures.
- Coordinate with company controllers and other finance staff to gather details for income tax returns.
- Manage tax fixed assets and prepare rollforwards and reconciliation to GAAP fixed asset balances.
- Assist with the preparation of Federal and State income tax extensions, quarterly estimates, tax returns, and tax return workpapers.
- Assist with tax planning, tax research, and analyzing application of tax laws to specific situations, as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of intercompany tax settlement letters.
- Assist with the management of Federal and State income tax audits including providing answers to information requests.
- Research, analyze, and document tax positions that are taken on tax returns, as time permits.
- Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax compliance and audits, as necessary.
- Prepare Form 990 for related nonprofit charitable foundation.
- Assist with additional special projects and duties, as requested.
- Stay updated on current income tax law and maintain CPE requirements to keep current CPA license.
Qualifications
Two or more years of related tax experience with a top-tier accounting firm and / or corporate tax department is required.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; Master’s degree in Accounting with a Tax emphasis preferred.Certified Public Accountant preferred, including maintenance of high level of business, accounting and tax competence, including understanding federal and state income tax law and accounting for income taxes.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, CorpTax, tax research software, and capable of expanding skills into other software applications, as necessary.Must have a strong work ethic, time management skills, be detail-oriented and organized.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills.Must be self-motivated with a sense of responsibility to work under various deadlines, and the ability to multi-task.Must be trustworthy and able to work independently with limited supervision.Physical Requirements
