Job Summary

The Art Art History Department has an opportunity for a Printmaking Studio Assistant to assist with studio management in Printmaking. The candidate will assist with materials inventory, studio and equipment maintenance, equipment use related to the printmaking area and relevant safety protocols, and general oversight of open studio hours. The candidate will complete basic health and safety training provided by supervising Faculty and / or full-time Lab Manager. Personal safety equipment will be provided. Responsibilities may include : assisting individual students in safety procedures and proper use of printmaking equipment (eg, printmaking presses); assisting individual students in set-up and clean-up of studio tools and work; monitoring student activities in the printmaking lab for safety of students and equipment; materials and equipment inventory; routine studio organizing and clean-up under the direction of supervising Faculty and / or full-time Lab Manager, as well as general oversight of related equipment during open studio hours. Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in Art / Art History degree programs, but students in other departments with a passion for sculpture are also welcome to apply.

A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are necessary. Ability to work evenings and possibly Saturdays. A willingness to do physical work with attention to detail. Good communication and organizational skills.

Who May Apply

• Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
• Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Work Schedule

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of department.
