We are currently seeking two dynamic IT Managers to lead our Technical Services and Infrastructure & Public Safety divisions within the Information Technology Department. These manager roles combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, offering the chance to mentor a talented team and drive meaningful change every day. This recruitment is for the IT Manager of the Infrastructure & Public Safety division, providing direct support to Police, Fire and Water departments.
Working conditions include work performed primarily inside at various City locations, occasionally requiring travel to other locations; includes exposure to some noise, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Work environments may include noise, dust and / or unpleasant odors. Work is performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions, multiple priorities and deadlines, inquiries and peak workloads. May require flexible work schedules including early morning, weekend, and evening hours to accomplish after-hours tasks and provide on-call support.
Physical demands include frequent standing or sitting for extended periods; frequent walking; occasional pushing / pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting and crawling. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Constant use of good overall vision for reading / close up work; frequent use of color perception and eye / hand coordination; occasional use of depth perception and peripheral vision. Frequent repetitive motion from writing and using a computer keyboard; frequent grasping, holding and reaching. Frequent hearing / talking to others on the telephone and in person.
This is a management classification within the IT Division. Information Technology Managers are responsible for the direction of an entire bureau and exercise a broad range of authority over complex programs that are central to the department's mission. The Information Technology Manager is distinguished from the next lower classification of Senior Information Technology Analyst in that the latter has responsibilities for a unit within the bureau. The Information Technology Manager is distinguished from the next higher level of Chief Information Officer in that the latter has administrative responsibility for the entire division. Receives direct supervision from the Chief Information Officer. Provides direct and indirect supervision over professional, technical and clerical employees in the bureau as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field; five (5) years of professional, increasingly responsible experience in the one or more areas of Information Technology including two (2) years of supervisory responsibility. A Master's Degree in a related field is desirable. Requires successful completion of a thorough background investigation prior to employment. May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position.
