The Director of Engineering is a visionary leader responsible for providing strategic direction to Engineering and Quality Teams from concept to production and validation of precision machined components and assemblies. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role collaborates with customers, sales, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing to ensure operational goals are met.
Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills, a commitment to developing talent, and the ability to navigate organizational change. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering and quality trends, capabilities and methodologies, a global perspective, and a high level of emotional intelligence.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Supervises, mentors, and manages a group of managers or supervisors.
- Communicates Precinmac strategy and vision to team
- Oversees engineering and quality staff performance, ensuring alignment with company objectives
- Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations
- Provides training and mentorship to support professional growth
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain cost models that enable accurate product costing for customer quotesLead product launch teams through the New Product Introduction (NPI) processEstablish, implement, and maintain engineering and quality policies, standards, and proceduresServe as the subject matter expert in machining and automation processes, ensuring adoption of cutting-edge technologies for optimal cost and quality performanceDrive a continuous improvement mindset, addressing non-conformance issues and enhancing efficienciesA critical thinker who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve roadblocksProvide technical expertise and guidance to engineering teams, production associates, and senior leadershipAlign departmental strategies with organizational objectives, setting clear goals for successBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersRequired Skills & Qualifications :
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong managerial and supervisory abilitiesAdvanced analytical and problem-solving expertiseExtensive technical knowledge of engineering and product developmentStrong financial acumen and ability to analyze financial dataProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar engineering-related softwareEducation & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required (Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred)10+ years of managerial experience in engineering leadership roles10+ years of experience in the Machine Tool Technology tradeExperience with ISO9001 / AS9100 preferredSix Sigma Certification preferred (Green or Black Belt)Physical Requirements :
