AI Solutions Engineer
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to be based in our Fall River, MA, Arlington VA, or Mt. Laurel, NJ office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. We are seeking a skilled and driven AI Solutions Engineer to identify, prototype, and guide the adoption of AI-enabled solutions within multiple internal organizations, including :

This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will operate with mid-to-senior level independence-identifying opportunities, defining initiatives, and driving execution to measurable outcomes while ensuring alignment with IDT's overall business mission and objectives. Responsibilities Include :
Identify opportunities to leverage AI / ML technologies across diverse internal organizationsDefine and execute AI adoption initiatives with measurable business and operational impactResearch, evaluate, and prototype AI tools, frameworks, and platforms to address business needsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to design, develop, and implement AI-based solutionsIntegrate AI into existing workflows, ensuring usability, security, and compliance with internal and external requirementsDevelop and maintain proof-of-concepts and production-ready solutions for internal useStay informed on AI trends, tools, and best practices; share knowledge and provide training as neededDocument AI solution architectures, processes, and lessons learned to support ongoing knowledge growthWork closely with security and compliance teams to ensure AI solutions meet relevant policies and regulations, especially for classified and sensitive environmentsContinuously evaluate and improve AI adoption strategies to align with evolving business goals and technology landscapesMinimum Required Qualifications :
3 years of professional experience in AI / ML engineering, data science, or a related technical roleB.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent full-time practical experienceRequired skills :
Demonstrated knowledge of AI / ML concepts, algorithms, and practical applications.Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in AI development (e.g., Python, R, Java).Experience with AI / ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar.Familiarity with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.Experience working with APIs, automation scripts, or custom tool integration to operationalize AI solutions.Understanding of security, compliance, and ethical considerations when implementing AI solutions-especially in sensitive or classified environments.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver solutions independently.Experience collaborating with diverse business units to translate operational needs into technical AI solutions.Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.Ability to research, evaluate, and recommend emerging AI tools, frameworks, and practices.Competencies :
