Structural Corrugated Packaging Designer
- Following all safety rules and procedures
- Teamwork effort and involvement to meet all goals
- Produce samples and small production runs of prototypes on the CAD table for testing purposes
- Writing and transmitting specs as requested
- Improve existing packaging with innovative solutions, this will include customer site visits and the ability to perform packaging audits at their location
- Coordinate with tooling suppliers
- Reviews information and orders cutting dies, Printing plates, labels and preprint on new items(s)
- Travel with Sales Reps to Customer locations when required
- Develop strong internal working relationships to support and promote efficient and accurate responses to Customers, Sales, and Operations departments
- Assist with routine lab functions
- Handles daily Graphics projects as dictated by customers and Plant
- Develop advanced Graphic Design skills and On-the-Job Training
- Assists Sales Reps in the absence of the Design Manager
- Performs Tooling verification of new products Print plates, Cutting dies, labels and preprint
- Handles all requirements of preprint and labels; gets quotes, checks artwork, and verifies labels when they arrive
- Obtains quotes on tooling as needed, on cutting dies, and print plates.
- Places Printing Plates, cutting die(s), label and preprint orders to supply production with needed materials
- Assists with Production special request or problem tooling
- Perform the necessary activities to help maintain the functions of the Design Dept
- Makes Graphic Mock-up samples as requested by customers
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications for the structural designer are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodationStrong verbal, written and electronic communication skills along with the ability to work closely with internal and external customersIn-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office and its applications, CAD, Artios CAD, Cape Pack, Graphics Adobe Creative Suite, and / or TOPPS and CAD tableKnowledge of box plant machinery, tooling, and processes including scoring, machine capabilities / limitations, spec sheets and drawingsKnowledge of various paperboard stocks, board grade combinations, corrugation, and printing processesExperienced in operating sample cutting tablesGood knowledge of corrugated industry, working POP knowledge is desiredStrong cognitive and math skillsDemonstrate ability to think in 3DDetail orientedMust possess the ability to work independently as well as in a Team environmentAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentEqual Opportunity Employer.
