Job description

is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimizing renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centers, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic and even the surface of Mars. Our team of over 2,300 experts and 59 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don't have to fit in to belong.

We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Louisville, Colorado supporting Vaisala’s mission to deliver world-class weather and environmental measurement solutions. This role is central to developing and sustaining advanced manufacturing, testing and logistics systems that support the production of precision instruments for weather and environmental monitoring.

As a Process Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of production technologies and systems. You’ll apply engineering principles, programming skills, and data analysis to improve productivity, reliability, and scalability across operations. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in instrumentation, software, and hardware integration, and offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact technologies used in climate science, aviation safety, and environmental monitoring.

In this role, you will be:

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing, testing, logistics, and S&OP processes to improve productivity, quality, and profitability.
  • Provide ongoing support for production test stations, including troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance optimization.
  • Implement and manage changes to production test stations, including hardware and software updates, validation, and documentation in accordance with the Operational Test & Evaluation (OTE) Process.
  • Analyze data to support problem solving and monitor day operative KPIs.
  • Support and troubleshoot Windows OS environments and network communications within production systems.
  • Apply knowledge of common communication and signaling standards (e.g., RS232/422, 4-20mA) in instrumentation and measurement systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into existing workflows and systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including change records, validation reports, and work instructions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, digitalization, and tooling upgrades.
  • Provide technical leadership in the use of Vaisala Production Systems (VPS) tools and methodologies.
  • Mentor team members in technical problem-solving and continuous improvement practices.

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Basic programming and scripting skills, particularly in C#.
  • Advanced data analysis and statistical competence.
  • Experience with instrumentation, optics, and measurement technologies.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, electronics, and sensor calibration.
  • Understanding of production systems and test automation.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. Degrees in related technical disciplines may also be considered based on relevant experience.
  • Coursework or certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Engineering or Automation Technologies are advantageous and may strengthen a candidate’s qualifications.
  • Experience or coursework in electronics, embedded software, and/or sensor calibration is highly desirable, given the technical nature of Vaisala’s weather and environmental measurement products.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Willing to be on-site for this position in our Lousiville, Colorado office.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $80,000-$90,000 annually combined with our performance bonus plan. Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data based upon the applicable position. Additionally, we offer our employees a competitive benefits package which is outlined below.

Ready to take every measure for the planet? Apply at the latest on January 26th, 2026, via the application form. Pease note that applications sent via email cannot be processed due to privacy reasons. The recruitment process consists of 2 or 3 meetings, including a discussion with the team members. We will close the application process when we have a suitable number of qualified candidates.

Our Vaisala solutions contribute to societies and people’s lives in over 150 countries – and can even be found in space. With our technological innovations for measuring weather, environmental and industrial conditions, we have a key role in solving the grand social and environmental challenges of our time. We offer you a career with a clear purpose and a chance to create observations for a better world. We take pride in being pioneers who strive to bring about positive changes in both the society and environment, and our work is not done yet. Take advantage of this opportunity and join our team to make a difference!
