As a Senior AIX Systems Administrator, you will lead complex information systems and technology projects that span multiple disciplines, including application support, database management, software engineering, and network operations. In this pivotal role, you will provide guidance to fellow IT administrators and act as a technical specialist across several IT domains.
Configure, monitor, and maintain AIX Operating Systems in a dynamic virtual environment.
Plan, install, test, and implement upgrades and patches for AIX OS to ensure optimal performance and security.
Offer tier 2 and 3 support for escalated issues from the Help Desk.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in troubleshooting various Unix and Linux-based systems.
Participate in on-call rotations to deliver comprehensive 24x7 infrastructure operational support.
Be available for occasional after-hours and weekend support as required, in addition to on-call duties.
Optimize system operations and resource utilization, conducting system capacity analysis and planning as needed.
Utilize an array of tools and processes such as software distribution, backups, performance tuning, and asset management to facilitate efficient and automated systems management.
Resolve complex incidents, problems, or service requests that require expert knowledge and cannot be handled by the Enterprise Operations Center (EOC).
Collaborate with the EOC to develop automated preventive measures, proactive monitoring, and self-healing system capabilities to minimize downtime and enhance service quality.
Contribute to Root Cause Analysis efforts to identify and address underlying issues.
Employ scripting methodologies to automate various IT administrative tasks, enhancing efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; Master’s Degree preferred.
8-15 years of overall experience in information technology, including 5+ years in operations and maintenance support and performance issue resolution in UNIX (Linux, Ubuntu, and / or AIX), 5+ years with Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), 5+ years in shell scripting, 5+ years in infrastructure design and configuration, and 4+ years in quality assurance and software evaluation.
Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Skills
IBM Certified System Administrator (AIX).
Experience with IBM Tivoli Monitoring or NetCool Omnibus.
Compensation Ranges
Compensation for this position will vary based on numerous factors including location, skill set, education level, certifications, and years of experience.
