American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a MO or compact RN license and advanced critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the ICU at a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma, teaching hospitalAssignments offered for 13 or 26 weeks with either 36 or 48 hours per weekNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2Patient population includes respiratory failure / ARDS, acute chest pain, arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, pre- and post-op cardiac / thoracic / abdominal surgeries, medicine and neuro overflow, pre- and post-transplant, and end-of-life / organ donation casesWork schedule is day shift (4x12 hours, 7 : 00 to 19 : 30) with every other weekend requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesFloating required within ICU service line and possibly to affiliate hospitalsUses Epic EMR system; Epic experience requiredSpecialized equipment includes IV pumps / titration, CRRT / dialysis, ventilators / BIPAP, hemodynamic / invasive monitors, defibrillator / crash cartDuties include caring for a diverse and high-acuity patient population including those requiring advanced life support and multi-organ system careTeam support provided in a large teaching hospital environmentNavy scrubs requiredEvery other weekend and holiday coverage are required per unit policyNo more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of assignmentPermanent employees must wait at least 1 year before returning as a travelerTravelers may remain for up to 18 months; a 3-month break is required after 18 months of continuous assignmentFit testing required; proper facial hair for mask fit will be enforcedPre-employment modules must be completed prior to startParking passes are available through hospital security\n \n Requirements\n
Active MO or compact RN license required; license must be in hand by start dateMinimum of 2 years of recent ICU experienceCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke ScaleMust have experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12 lead EKGs, management of multisystem organ dysfunction, CVP and Swan Ganz monitoring, management of acute / chronic renal failure, arterial line and blood product administration, central and PICC line careSkills required in ventilator management, BiPAP, ABG interpretation, IV sedation, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, stroke management, respiratory failure care, wound management, and infection preventionExperience with Epic charting system is requiredNo first-time travelers will be consideredCandidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
