Position Description : Visual Arts Instructor

This position is responsible for providing instruction in the cultural arts to students ages five (5) to seventeen (17), for the PRODIGY cultural arts program. PRODGY is a Department of Juvenile Justice grant-funded prevention program. This position requires the ability to instruct children in cultural arts and to work with parents, program partners, and community members in a culturally diverse setting.

I. Essential Functions of the Job

80% Classroom Instruction

Classroom Management (% as needed during class time)

15% Facilities and Property Maintenance

5% PERFORMS OTHER TEACHING RELATED DUTIES AS NEEDED, including but not limited to participation in PRODIGY sponsored extracurricular events.

Machine and equipment use is based on instructor’s specialty and course curricula. Instructor operates machines and equipment which are specified according to curriculum content.

Describe the type and extent of instructions or directions normally given to the incumbent of this position by the immediate supervisor :

Immediate supervisor is Site Manager who will provide general instruction, collaboration on course curricula, and regularly scheduled information meetings with PRODIGY administrators and staff.

Working Hours :

To be determined by PRODIGY program needs within the range of general daily program hours which are from 3 : 00 pm to 7 : 00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Additional hours may be required for extracurricular events and may include weekends and evenings.
