Volunteer Programs & Advancement Assistant; Northeastern University Co-Op
SCHEDULE : Tuesday-Saturday : 10am-6 : 30pm
Pays $18.78 - $19.55 per hour (Salary ranges provided are based on relevant experience and skill set)
LOCATION : 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION :
The NU co-op Volunteer Programs & Advancement Assistant will be tasked with a variety of administrative and programmatic duties that facilitate the coordination of volunteer service, donor engagement opportunities and special events.
The co-op will learn about the issue of homelessness by becoming a team member of the Advancement team at Boston’s leading and largest non-profit resource for the homeless. This is a unique position that allows the co-op to work alongside many other departments within the agency, such as the Workforce Development, Food Services, Emergency Shelter, Housing, and Street Outreach teams.
Requirements :
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Represent Pine Street in a professional manner to visitors and volunteers in person, on the telephone, and in writing
 - Follow up with all emails, phone calls and other inquiries in a timely manner
 - Assist with the volunteer / donation coordination, distribution and acknowledgement process
 - Support the individual volunteer application process and contact perspective volunteers about upcoming orientation dates
 - Assist with the maintenance and distribution of monthly calendars as well as documenting communication and action events in the database
 - Communicate with various staff via email and phone about prospective volunteer groups, special projects, events and any issues / problems
 - Assist with the set up and facilitation of nightly volunteer dinner service
 - Assist with on-site volunteer management and special events
 - Help to maintain and update the volunteer postings in the volunteer room
 - Assist with volunteer groups and tours as necessary
 - Assist with taking, editing, and organizing photos of volunteer groups for our social media platforms and files
 - Assist with Raiser's Edge database entry and maintenance
 - Attend staff trainings (this may require coming in for an earlier shift and flexing your time)
 - Assist in the Advancement office with administrative tasks and special events
 - Perform other additional assignments or projects as requested / directed by supervisor / team
 
QUALIFICATIONS :
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Strong computer / Microsoft Office skills / knowledgeStrong oral and written communication skills
