Job description

Purpose :

The Director of Accreditation and Compliance serves as a subject matter expert for all topics related to institution-wide accreditation, authorization, operational approval, and best practices related to policy guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Serves as the institution’s point of contact for the institutional accrediting agency, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and other regulatory agencies as needed.

Remains current with accreditation, state, and federal requirements impacting The Los Angeles Film School and informs the appropriate school leadership of pending or new requirements.

Secures and maintains authorization for all jurisdictions in which attainment is required.

Provides guidance to faculty and academic leadership on accreditation, state, and federal guidelines and the impact on academic and student programs and policies.

Coordinates and guides institutional accreditation and compliance activities with faculty and staff.

Oversees the writing and submission of substantive and non-substantive modifications, self-study reports, annual reports, and other reporting, as required; coordinates on-site evaluations; and reviews, analyzes, and coordinates feedback from and to regulatory bodies.

Attends professional development conferences and training to remain current in accreditation and compliance trends and practices impacting higher education; and

Creates on-going, accreditation and compliance related training for faculty and staff to foster an environment of continuous improvement.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Travel   may be required

Performs other duties as assigned

This position is expected to remain current on issues and trends in higher education compliance and accreditation.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and accurately

    Education and / or Experience :

  • An earned degree from an accredited program in Higher Education, Education, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in higher education accreditation, assessment, and / or compliance with a focus on writing and submitting reports to regulatory bodies.

    Proven record of success in working with multiple accreditations, state, and / or federal approving bodies in higher education.

    Computer Skills :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn and navigate systems and sites as needed

    Work / Environmental Factors are those that are required and performed with or without accommodation .

    Work is performed in an office and classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands are those that are required and performed with or without accommodation .

    The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to meet with staff and access information and constantly operate a computer and other machinery such as a copy machine and printer. Must have the visual acuity to work in a variety of systems and programs. May have occasion to reach, kneel and bend and to lift 5 -25 lbs. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
