Job Description Summary
The metrology process engineer will be responsible for the creation and execution of inspection processes for complex additive geometries. This individual will design and implement production inspection programs from point cloud data (e.g., 3D scanning, CT, and CMM data) using industry-standard software (e.g., PolyWorks, PC-DMIS). They will be responsible for transitioning programs to offsite resources as well as maintaining and improving existing inspection programs. This role could potentially require up to 50% travel.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support site metrology priorities
- Support creation and execution of comprehensive training plans for inspection technologies
- Help to establish, incorporate, and proliferate metrology best practices and standards
- Design inspection programs for additive hardware
- Transition programs to outside sources
- Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
- Coordinate with design engineers and manufacturing engineers in aligning additive drawing requirements with NDT technologies, inspection capabilities, and process capability
- Help spec and develop inspection technologies to enable additive complexity in the future
- Ability to assess processes, take measurements, interpret data, and document results
- Effectively communicate project outcomes to senior leadership
- Lead projects intended to design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve technology and processes related to additive inspection and NDT
- Develop and audit process specific work instructions
- Perform risk assessments of additive print dimensioning
- Provide process documentation and operating instructions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of metrology experience)At least an additional 3 years of Metrology experienceDesired Characteristics
