The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and analyzing voltage regulators, transformers, and their subcomponent assemblies using appropriate engineering principles. This role will also support R&D projects, manufacturing equipment improvements, and equipment modeling. The position reports directly to the Head of Engineering at the voltage regulator factory in Richland, MS.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design electrical components for voltage regulators and transformers, with a focus on traction transformers.
- Perform electrical calculations on transformer components (winding, core, insulation, heat transfer) to support design.
- Utilize 2D software for engineering drawings and creating bills of material.
- Lead and collaborate on R&D projects to improve products and provide innovative customer solutions.
- Assist the manufacturing team with equipment improvements and support drafting technicians in drawing creation and revisions.
- Troubleshoot engineering issues and effectively communicate across functional groups to ensure seamless execution of customer requirements.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required, master’s preferred.5+ years of experience as a design engineer or in related roles.Knowledge of electrical transmission / distribution systems, IEEE standards, and transformer design parameters.Strong understanding of power systems, voltage regulators, transformers, and their applications.Self-motivated with the ability to produce high-quality results with limited supervision.Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Acrobat, and SAP, with the ability to learn new software.Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
