Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN with active Oregon licensure, telemetry experience, and Epic proficiency for a night shift role in a neurotrauma-focused progressive care unit.
Responsibilities
Position is located in a short-term acute care hospital on a 30-bed neurotrauma care unitServes patients with neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, meningitis, encephalitis, strokes, and spinal injuriesPatient ratios are typically 1 : 3-4 for RNs and 1 : 6-13 for CNAs during days and 1 : 10-13 for CNAs on nightsNight shift schedule is 3x12 hour shifts (19 : 00 - 07 : 30)Every other weekend shift is requiredFloating required within hospital and to a nearby affiliate hospital (West Valley Hospital)Epic EMR is used and experience is requiredCare for complex neurotrauma and neurological disorder patients on a certified stroke and spine unitStaff trained in NIHSS, swallow screening, and spine immobilizationRoyal blue scrubs requiredPre-start and annual educational modules must be completed onlineStrict RTO policy : requests over 2 weeks require approval and no additional RTO after submissionNo block scheduling accommodatedReturn policy requires a 6-month gap for former permanent employees before returning as a travelerOnsite parking is freeLocal candidates are accepted at the same rateRequirements
Active OR RN license required (pending accepted for submission; must be active by start date)Current BLS certification through the American Heart AssociationMinimum 1 year of recent experience (within past 3 years) in MS / Tele / PCU; PCU and neuro stepdown experience with NIHSS certification preferredProficiency in telemetry management and cardiac rhythm interpretationExperience with non-invasive airway management, peripheral IV care, rapid response team activation, dysrhythmia management, and oxygen protocolsExperience with cardiac drips including nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU-level dripsComputerized documentation skills with required Epic charting experienceStrict adherence to isolation precautions and use of PPEFirst-time travelers not acceptedCOVID-19 vaccination required; no exemptions acceptedBenefits
