Overview :
The Area Business Manager will be responsible for driving business-to-business engagement within targeted customer segments by delivering clinically relevant sales messages that build revenue and consistently achieve portfolio objectives.
In this role, the Area Business Manager serves as an account orchestrator, ensuring a seamless customer experience and enhancing both provider and patient outcomes. This is achieved by strategically leveraging cross-functional collaboration with internal teams across the US vaccines business. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who demonstrates independence, initiative, and accountability in exceeding individual sales goals, all while maintaining high ethical standards and compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Consistently grow portfolio share and revenue by achieving and exceeding product-specific targets.
- Serve as a subject matter expert within the therapeutic area, effectively positioning and differentiating products.
- Collaborate with field-based colleagues including Medical Science Liaisons, Market Access, Strategic Account Managers, Hospital Business Managers, and others to proactively meet customer needs.
- Analyze market trends and dynamics to develop and execute strategies aligned with brand and organizational goals for optimal account performance in the assigned region.
- Leverage account and territory-level data alongside internal analytics teams to provide actionable insights that support HCPs in optimizing patient care.
- Adapt strategies using digital tools and AI to enhance engagement with HCPs in a dynamic, agile selling environment.
- Identify key opportunities within the territory and create strategic business plans that increase product utilization and overall territory performance.
- Understand and communicate the value of portfolio contract options, including comparisons to competitive offerings using financial data and presentation tools.
- Operate within a buy-and-bill model, utilizing advanced operational skills in pricing, contract compliance, shipping logistics, and amendment management.
- Plan and execute local promotional speaker programs and other marketing initiatives.
- Effectively manage allocated budgets to support strategic objectives and business growth in the territory.
- Participate in and contribute to broader sales initiatives, including attending industry events, regional meetings, and medical congresses as needed.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degreeA minimum of 3+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device sales experience required with business-to-business knowledgeBroad understanding of the healthcare environment, decision-making processes & market trends with a proven track record of accessing decision makersPossess skills and success within a business-to-business environmentStrong commercial business acumen, strategic, critical thinking / problem solving and innovative thinking capabilitiesAbility to navigate a hybrid environment and determine the optimal HCP selling modelAn agile learner who is comfortable operating in complex environmentsExperience with omnichannel approaches, and can execute customer engagement through appropriate channels using insightsDemonstrated ability to use data and data analytics by unearthing valuable insights from data that can help lead to new solutions for the customerDemonstrate a passion and learning aptitude for science and is proactive in strengthening knowledge related to disease-state, treatment options and healthcare trendsThe ability to execute tactical initiatives, provide ongoing feedback, and prioritize multiple productsBroad field sales experience with demonstrated success with influencing decision makersSelf-directed and organized with excellent execution and planning skillsMust possess valid drivers license, be eligible for insurance coverage and must be able to safely operate a vehicle
