This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, grant-funded position that reports to the Director of Engagement and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.
JOB DESCRIPTION
John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager for the TRIO Upward Bound program. This position is responsible for leading the daily operations and long-term success of the federally funded Upward Bound program, which supports high school students in preparing for and succeeding in postsecondary education. The Manager oversees staff, program development, and compliance, while fostering strong relationships with students, families, district schools, and community partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the administration, budgeting, and compliance of the TRIO Upward Bound grant.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise full- and part-time program staff.
- Recruit and select student participants and provide direct services, including academic advising, tutoring, and mentoring.
- Develop and implement program curriculum, activities, and the annual residential summer program.
- Collaborate with district schools, community organizations, and higher education institutions to support program goals.
- Monitor student progress, provide resources, and ensure compliance with grant objectives and reporting requirements.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement strategies to meet and exceed goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or counseling required; master's degree preferred.Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of related experience required; previous TRIO program experience strongly preferred.Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to transport students to events and college visits.Skills and Competencies :
Strong organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.Excellent written and oral communication abilities.Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.Work Schedule :
Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (8 : 00am – 5 : 00pm) and Friday (8 : 00am – 12 : 00pm).Occasional evenings and weekends may be required as needed.Working Conditions :
Work in a temperature-controlled environment with ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and carry items as needed.Occasional evening, weekend, and travel required.Involves leading student trips, events, and campus visits.SALARY :
This is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $45,000.00 - $46,500.00.BENEFITS
