LifeSource Hospice is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hospice Biller to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Medicare and Medicaid hospice billing, authorizations, and claims management. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely reimbursement and compliance with hospice billing regulations.
Must have NJ HOSPICE BILLING EXPERIENCE
Submit accurate hospice claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers
Review claims for completeness and compliance before submission
Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or delayed claims
Post payments, adjustments, and denials
Obtain and track Medicaid authorizations
Secure and manage commercial insurance authorizations
Ensure services billed align with approved authorizations
Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims
Prepare and submit appeals when appropriate
Identify trends in denials and recommend corrective actions
Maintain compliance with CMS and state hospice billing regulations
Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to resolve documentation issues impacting billing
Ensure accurate patient insurance verification and eligibility checks
Minimum 2+ years hospice billing experience (preferred)
Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice benefit and Medicaid billing rules
Experience handling authorizations, denials, and appeals
Familiarity with hospice EMR/billing systems (WellSky experience a plus)
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
