Job description

Property Accountant Who :

  • An accounting professional with 2+ years of experience, ideally in real estate accounting.

  • Position Overview :

  • The Property Accountant will play a key role in preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
  • This position supports both the accounting department and property management teams while also assisting on special projects.
  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, balance cash accounts, reconcile balance sheets, and ensure accurate coding of transactions.
  • Support property management accounting, including journal entries, financial reports, schedules, and projections.
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, loan draws, capital schedules, distributions, and tax support.
  • Maintain proper business and accounting controls and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Collaborate with property management teams and provide excellent service to internal and external clients.
  • Review work of other team members and participate in special projects assigned by leadership.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BBA or higher preferred). 2+ years of accounting experience; real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Yardi (required), MRI, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills for advanced projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead on certain portfolio assignments.
