Position Profile : Director of Venue Programming

Reports to : Vice President of Arrowhead Events
Status : Full-Time, Exempt
JOB SUMMARY : The Director of Venue Programmingwill be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of revenue-generating events at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and the Truman Sports Complex. This role will oversee the full event pipeline, develop innovative programming, manage cross-departmental teams, maintain key industry relationships, and ensure elevated, cohesive event and hospitality experiences for Arrowhead Events and the Kansas City Chiefs.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Develop a programming strategy to identify, create and attract revenue generating events at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and Truman Sports Complex.
- Manage all stages of the programming pipeline from initial inquiries and RFPs through negotiation, contracting, budgeting, execution, post-event settlement, etc.
- Identify and develop unique programming that pushes creative boundaries and broadens the venue’s event portfolio.
- Maintain relationships with industry contacts ensuring that best practices and trends are implemented and / or discussed for consideration. This includes research and evaluation of technology or other systems, services, or solutions that may create efficiencies, or innovative experiences.
- Identify and share objectives and strategies for each event by leading cross-department core-teams for event kickoffs, planning and recap meetings.
- Develop and maintain the organizational wide complex calendar.
- Set and lead the strategic vision for event and hospitality design ensuring cohesive, elevated experiences across all events.
- Assist in the growth and development of assigned direct reports by setting annual performance goals and monitoring, as well as supporting professional development and skill needs.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages a team-first mentality across the department. Act as a champion, inspire and connect the efforts of the team with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic initiatives.
- Build relationships with other leaders and staff across the organization.

Light office duties and activities.Ability to work long hours and weekends.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS) :
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, Events or related field.10+ years of relevant experience in the hospitality, experiential marketing or event sales / coordination industry. Experience leading a diverse scope of events.Curious, proactive, creative and passionate about the evolving landscape of events and experiences.Demonstrated management and execution skills; awareness of event production, design, best practices and trends; ability to implement creative event features.Operational project management skills and experience creating work plans, meeting agendas, budgets and other collaboration tools.Proven experience leading, managing and developing direct reports.Executive presence with strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present ideas clearly and build credibility with stakeholders.Strong attention to detail, self-directed initiative, resourcefulness, problem solver, and drive for innovation.Must be able to effectively work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple competing tasks.Experience in food and beverage industry is desired.Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including evenings, weekends and holidays.Proven ability to set vision, define strategy, and connect event experiences to broader business goals.Strong vendor relationships and experience negotiating with, influencing, and managing various vendors. Strong customer-orientation and proven reputation of collaborative work relationships.
