Democracy itself is under attack worldwide. This opportunity is to interview local pro-democracy activists - in the United States and globally - to highlight effective efforts to preserve democratic forms of government.
This might include interviews with those Milk Tea movement of civil resistance in Myanmar, and it might include interviews of young people engaged in voter registration in the United States. It might include articles about Sudan, not only the current violence and famine but the youth movement that had briefly succeeded against the odds, and what they are doing now; or with members of Standing Together bringing Palestinian and Arab and Jewish Israelis together to struggle for peace and change of government; or Dawn MENA working on release of documents about Leahy Act enforcement, to understand what that is and how could it help.
We want to know what makes people feel strongly about defending or fighting for their right to a democratic form of government, and what people are doing about it. We address and highlight serious problems but with somewhat of a solutions or focus on elevating those working on change.
