Position Overview
The Quality Inspector performs detailed dimensional and visual inspections of precision-machined aerospace components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with tight tolerances (±0.0002"), advanced inspection tools, and complex geometries common to rocket propulsion systems.
This role requires a meticulous, methodical, and quality-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of CNC-machined components and assemblies.
- Verify part dimensions using precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, vision systems / comparators, and CMMs.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and specifications to assess part conformance.
- Document results in digital inspection reports via Proshop ERP.
- Inspect for surface finish, FOD, and cosmetic quality appropriate for rocket engine hardware.
- Work closely with machinists, deburr technicians, and engineers to identify non-conformances and suggest corrective actions.
- Support root cause and corrective action investigations (RCCA) for quality issues.
- Maintain calibration of inspection tools and uphold 5S standards in the inspection area.
- Ensure strict adherence to ITAR, AS9100, and customer-specific quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in dimensional inspection of precision-machined components (aerospace or equivalent industry preferred).Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T.Skilled in using precision measurement tools and documenting inspection data.Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or NADCAP quality systems.Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.Strong communication and documentation skills.U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) as required by ITAR.Preferred Qualifications
Experience inspecting Inconel, titanium, or stainless steel aerospace components.Experience with CMM programming or operation (PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or similar).Familiarity with non-contact inspection tools (e.g., laser scanning, optical systems).Understanding of SPC, FAIRs (AS9102), and nonconformance documentation.Previous experience inspecting rocket propulsion, turbomachinery, or flight hardware.Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while inspecting small, intricate parts.Manual dexterity for handling precision components and instruments.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.Company Description
