Recreation Supervisor
This position reports to the Social Development Director and is a salaried, exempt role.

Position Overview
The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation and direction of the recreation and non-vocational program. This includes supervising staff, developing programming, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance with all DOL and PRH requirements.
You will ensure that activities are structured, engaging, and contribute to student development. You will also build connections within the community to expand opportunities for students.

Core Responsibilities
• Supervises recreation staff and provides direction, training, and performance oversight
• Plans, organizes, and oversees all recreation and leisure-learning activities on center
• Ensures all activities are safe, structured, and aligned with center expectations
• Develops and maintains a monthly and weekly recreation schedule based on student needs and interests
• Ensures compliance with all DOL, PRH, and organizational requirements
• Oversees water safety programming and ensures proper documentation and compliance
• Maintains inventory of recreation equipment and supplies and ensures proper use and accountability
• Submits required reports and maintains accurate participation records
• Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations to expand student opportunities
• Coordinates and supports community service projects
• Supervises volunteers supporting recreation programming
• Assesses staffing needs and works with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and select staff
• Conducts staff evaluations and provides recommendations for promotions, transfers, and performance actions
• Attends required meetings and training sessions
• Promotes a safe environment free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and disrespect
• Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property and enforces safety practices
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Associate degree preferred
• Three years of experience supervising recreation or non-vocational programs preferred
• Experience working with youth, particularly at-risk populations, preferred
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred
• CDL with passenger endorsement preferred
Additional Requirements
• Knowledge of a wide range of recreation and leisure activities
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and relate to a diverse student population
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to motivate and engage students
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments
