Plant / Process Engineer (Open to Entry-Level and Mid-Level Candidates)

About the Role
The Plant / Process Engineer supports the facility’s engineering and maintenance functions through design, analysis, project coordination, and performance improvement initiatives. You’ll assist in developing technical specifications, preparing cost estimates, troubleshooting systems, and ensuring all work aligns with engineering standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and review of engineering designs, specifications, and project scopes for maintenance and capital projects.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret equipment and process data to improve plant performance and reliability.
- Support the preparation of technical drawings, reports, and schematic diagrams for system upgrades and modifications.
- Collaborate with drafting, maintenance, and operations personnel to address field changes, system troubleshooting, and operational improvements.
- Participate in vendor evaluations , proposal reviews, and equipment performance assessments.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and system studies to identify and recommend design or process enhancements.
- Use engineering software tools and data visualization methods to support project deliverables and performance reports.
- Assist with project management , including cost tracking, schedule coordination, and quality assurance.
- For mid-level candidates : Lead smaller capital or process-improvement projects, mentor junior staff, and interface with regulatory or technical groups.
Requirements
Qualifications – Entry-Level
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited or equivalent).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.Familiarity with process equipment , piping systems , or plant operations through coursework, internship, or co-op experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and engineering modeling or analysis tools.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Qualifications – Mid-Level
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering preferred).1 to 5+ years of engineering experience in plant operations, utilities, power generation, or heavy industry.Proven ability to plan, execute, and close out technical projects with minimal supervision.Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to industrial operations.Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
