9 : 00AMSUMMARYFamily Service League is seeking afull-timeOvernight Advocate for our homeless shelter in Huntington. The Overnight Advocate will be responsible for conducting client assessments and ultimately assisting clients in achieving self- sufficiency through advocacy, counseling, and resource referrals.

• Health and Dental InsuranceVision InsuranceNight Differential PayFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Retirement Savings Plan with a 5% employer contributionLife and AD&D InsuranceGenerous PTO (paid time off)Up to 11 paid HolidaysPaid Sick LeaveStudent Tuition Remission ProgramEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Company paid Short-Term and Long-Term DisabilityEmployee Discounts and more!RESPONSIBILITIESThe Overnight Advocate will use good judgement and remain calm in high stress situations.Handle special projects.Conduct intakes for new clients.Provide ongoing support and counseling for clients in reaching their goals.Establish and maintain positive working relationships.Work cooperatively, help set goals, resolve problems, and enhance the program.Provide conflict resolution strategies.Conduct regular perimeter checks for safety.The Overnight Advocate will issue violations for breaking rules.Open locker and sheds for clients to access their belongings.Oversee and document clients while they self-administer medication.Serve meals.The Overnight Advocate will supervise bedtime, distribute bed rolls, linens placed in appropriate bin for laundry service.Routine bed and bathroom check and document log for safety.Access donation closet for clothing as needed.Oversee shower times and distribute toiletries as needed.Report and document all incidents with detail and accuracy.Transport clients as needed.All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.Minimum of 1 year of experience in human services preferred.Prior experience working with the homeless population preferred.Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.The ability to work as part of a team required.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.Valid and clean New York State Drivers License required.Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as moderate lifting up to 10-15 pounds.
