Machine Operator - Yarn Processing
Location : McAdenville, NC
Shifts : (8 hours) 2nd or 3rd
Employment Type; Full Time

Position Summary
The machine operates runs one of three types of yarn processing machines (Twisting, Creel or Heatset).
The cabler / twisting machine is operated by placing yarn on the machine whose purpose is to intertwine multiple strands of yarn into a single strand. Twisting yarn is then doffed or removed from the machine and sent to the next Heat set process.
The heat set process consists of creels and heat set machines. The twisted yarn is placed on a creel and then feed into the heat set machine where it is heated and cooled and then wound up onto tubes and doffed to a pallet to be packaged and sent to the warehouse,
Position Responsibilities
- Check specification sheet before loading or doffing machines
- Check label in all packages
- Load yarn packages and tie ends using fisherman knot for twisting and splicer for creel / heatset
- Make sure ends are threaded through guides and tension devices correctly
- When starting new yarn package for twisting / heatset make sure to run a starter tail on each tube or cone
- Use creel caps to prevent waste / breaks
- Patrol job repairing any ends down and replacing packages as necessary
- Doff full packages from twister / heatset machines, place full packages on racks / pallets
- Use correct tube or cone
- Complete and place ID sheets on racks / pallets
- Put empty supply tubes in proper container
- Flag any spindle position that is making a bad package, flag ends that need repairs
- Clean conveyer belt
- Keep work area clean
- Perform any duties assigned by supervision
Essential Skills and Experience
Standing - approximately 7.5 hours on concrete floorSitting - 40 minute breaksMoving - moves about in an area approximately 100’ x 20’ while performing duties; no prolonged standing in single locationMoving Materials - exerts initial push force of 20 lbs. -sustained force of 10 lbs.Hearing / Speaking - must be able to communicate with fixers and supervisorsReaching - 6’5” to reach and pull down creel unit, 5 – 6 feet to place 10-18 lb. packages on creel assemblyVisual Acuity - color vision required with minimum near vision to distinguish quality defectsBending / Stooping – moderate (1.5 hours)Lifting - intermittent lifting of full yarn packages weighing up to 18 lbs.Beneficial Skills and Experience
Prerequisites Mandatory : Must be able to read job instructions / forms and write numbers.Preferred : G.E.D.Manufacturing / warehouse experience preferred, but not mandatory.
