Overview
The Mortgage Loan Officer (LO) is responsible for generating leads through relationship sales of mortgage products within a sales market area. The LO manages leads through application, qualification, and the collection of supporting documentation, serving as the primary contact with borrowers, Realtors, Attorneys, and others throughout the transaction. The LO ensures compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide sales support and strong communication to customers, processors and management from loan pre-qualification to loan closing
- Complete mortgage applications using Sauk Valley Bank's loan origination system (LOS), including initial and subsequent required documentation, disclosures and stipulations; ensure compliance with lending policies and government regulations
- Ensure loans are processed, closed and funded within Sauk Valley Bank's policies and procedures
- Maintain production reports for customer leads and sales contact, loan pipeline and other pertinent sales activity reports
- Generate and manage self-sourced leads through builders, real estate professionals, and other referral sources
- Maintain production standards per minimum acceptable levels as set by management
- Monitor all applications and supporting documentation to avoid and detect consumer fraud
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent job experience and education. Two years prior experience originating Conventional and Government loan products in a Secondary Market EnvironmentProficient math skills; ability to calculate interest and balance accounts; perform basic arithmetic accuratelyEffective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures and write reportsProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other mortgage and banking softwareAbility to address routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situationsEffective organizational and time management skillsProficient knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations and other SVB lending policiesCurrent Illinois driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing dutiesAbility to perform the position safely, without endangering the health or safety of self or othersWork Environment and Physical Activity
The environment is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. Some noise, odors, drafts, etc., may be present. The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting with the ability to move about. This position may require long periods of sitting and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
