We are currently seeking a Lead API Engineer to join the Digital Transformation team at Blue Cross Blue Shield Global SolutionsSM . This position reports to the Director, IT Architecture & Digital Transformation team and is a hybrid office position. Occasional visits to the corporate office in King of Prussia, PA are available to those who are local to the area. The budgeted salary is $130,000 - $135,000 with a 10% target bonus opportunity.

The Lead API Engineer will oversee the design, development, and lifecycle management of all APIs across the organization. This role provides technical leadership to a small team of developers and ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs that support internal systems and external integrations. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in API development using Microsoft technologies, including Azure and .NET, and a strong understanding of API governance, performance optimization, and developer experience.
The Lead API Engineer encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities spanning API architecture, development, and lifecycle management. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the organization's API infrastructure to facilitate robust integrations and digital services. Drawing upon their expertise in API engineering, they will lead the development of scalable API solutions, ensuring seamless communication between systems and services.
They will also be responsible for establishing API standards, documentation practices, and governance frameworks that align with business objectives. This includes defining security protocols, versioning strategies, and performance benchmarks to ensure the reliability and scalability of APIs.
