Cyber Security Engineer
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will focus on securing Kubernetes and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. Your role will involve protecting containerized applications and their infrastructure from vulnerabilities throughout their lifecycle, from build to runtime. You will also be responsible for securing RHEL hosts and containers using dynamic firewall rules and APIs to support live environment container migration.
Responsibilities
Protect containerized applications and infrastructure from vulnerabilities and threats.
Deploy, manage, and secure containerized applications using Kubernetes.
Secure RHEL hosts and containers with dynamic firewall rules and APIs.
Automate the deployment of RHEL using tools such as Ansible, Kickstart, and Satellite.
Implement robust system hardening measures, including secure boot configuration and data encryption.
Automate patch management and vulnerability remediation with Ansible and Red Hat Satellite.
Ensure compliance with NIST cybersecurity frameworks and security standards.
Essential Skills
Proven experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
Strong understanding of system architecture, performance tuning, and security hardening.
Proficient in automation and configuration management using Python and Ansible.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container technologies like Docker and Podman.
Solid knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and access control mechanisms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with software lifecycles, CI / CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
Experience with implementing network segmentation using VLANs and VXLANs.
Proficiency in configuring and managing routing protocols for secure traffic routing.
Experience utilizing Quality of Service (QoS) policies in a containerized environment.
Ability to deploy Access Control Lists (ACLs) for traffic filtering and security policy enforcement.
Designing and implementing secure network configurations for communication between systems.
Work Environment
The position is primarily onsite in Syracuse, NY, with some hybrid flexibility as needed. The role involves working closely with a dedicated team of engineers on cutting-edge technology and gaining exposure to a variety of programs.

This is a Contract position based out of Liverpool, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $75.00 / hr.
