The Role
Strategy and Leadership
- Design and implement a best-in-class event response framework tailored to re / insurance client needs
- Serve as the face of Willis / Willis Re's catastrophe event response internally and externally
- Develop and lead a small, high-performing team of event analysts
- Set protocols for activating response post-event, coordinating across broking, modelling, and research
Operational Delivery
Oversee the production of rapid event summary packs, client impact assessments, and market commentariesDevelop and operationalise a loss estimation framework, blending vendor models, proprietary analytics, and WRN inputLead and author the Willis Natural Catastrophe Review, enhancing its reach, scientific rigour, and strategic influenceExternal Engagement
Represent Willis / Willis Re in client debriefs, industry panels, and media commentary following major eventsBuild strong relationships with cedents, reinsurers, regulators, and modelling partnersSupport and feed the Willis Re View of Risk with event-derived insight and scenario testingPartner with the WRN to integrate cutting-edge hazard and loss science into workflowsInternal Coordination
Coordinate with Cat Modelling, Broking, and Analytics teams to deliver aligned, multi-perspective outputsAct as a central point of contact during live events and drive readiness for high-impact periods (e.g., hurricane season)Note : Employment-based non-immigrant visa sponsorship and / or assistance is not offered for this specific job opportunity.
The Requirements
10+ years of experience in catastrophe risk, either in the (re)insurance industry, catastrophe modeling, hazard science or in a relevant government agency (e.g., NOAA)Proven experience leading event response or catastrophe risk communicationsExcellent written and verbal communicator, able to represent Willis Re publicly and crediblyDemonstrated ability to communicate complex risk to executive and non-technical audiencesDesired Attributes
Recognised presence in the re / insurance or nat cat science communityExperience working directly with clients / markets / external stakeholders on event analysis and broader trendsStrong understanding of vendor models (e.g., RMS, Verisk), open-source platforms, and model limitationsSkilled in synthesising research, data, and market dynamics into timely, client-ready insightsExperience working with academic partners, scientific advisory boards, or research networks a plusDegree in natural science(s)Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state / local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education / professional certifications, qualifications / experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $100,000.00-$250,000.00 USD annually. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
